NOTE:
hey! i love you all very much, but the truth is that the graphic novel is numero uno right now. i am working very hard first to make the xeric grant deadline and then to coordinate / pay for printing and (eventually) distribution and marketing. working on black_ink is extremely enjoyable and a great chance for me to think laterally, but for the next two months (+ or – a month) please forgive me if updates to it are infrequent or even not there (!). in the mean time, please please please check out the site for the graphic novel and subscribe for periodic updates on its progress. i promise that i am working very hard on keeping everything working and in line for your enjoyment; please bear with me. it’s hard.

today’s sources included:
- again, with some rather specific imagery in mind, i was forced to rely on a whole lot of flickr. i mean, the sheer volume of photographs (many of them good) on flickr renders it an exceptionally strong platform for compositing / collaging imagery into narrative. i usually don’t find what i’m actually looking for, but sometimes i find something better. the photo of the (excitingly named) flaming lotus girls was generously provided by acaben. there are lots of other pictures of things on fire in that set, actually. the two (heavily altered) photographs of the girl were taken by gabu-chan; i believe the model’s name is anna. well, it’s hanako now! i am not shitting you when i say that the photo of the guy in the jesus costume (i didn’t give it this nomenclature!) were courtesy of house of sims. the absolutely gorgeous photo of the swatch watch that provided today’s time-traveling plot device was the work of the talented apesara. i kind of wondered on reading that handle if it was “ap-pe-sa-rah” or “ayp-sa-rah”. does she go “ook ook?” i won’t call the photo of the crashed valkyrie (taken by james gordon) beautiful, but i will go so far as to label it breathtaking. is that safe? is the sun burning?
- the photo i fondly call “ghosts in the snow” (which is pretty much impossible to see in the final product) was gleaned from the morguefile. perhaps i will prattle on about valkyries later. for now a graphic novel needs writing!
